Tip #1 - Do more of what you love
(Myself rock climbing even though it is not optimal for my powerlifting. It's still fun and keep me motivated to be active.)
Lack of motivation is a common barrier I hear from clients. I myself have had times where I don't feel like doing a part of my program or just don't feel like doing any activity in a given day.
Having days off is totally fine and normal. At Fitness on the Fly we are trying to encourage life long changes which means if you are active more often then not I think you are on the right track.
So how does one stay motivated and want to do an activity? My first piece of advice is in the title "Do more of what you love." If you enjoy walking, hiking, knitting, lifting weights, reading, rock climbing, writing all of these are activities can be added into your regular routine and they only bring you benefits. It doesn't have to be a structured weight lifting program and scheduled cardio sessions to get the results you want. You may do that kind of program for a little bit then lose the urge to want to do it. However, if you like walking and reading a good book and I schedule you multiple walks in a week and times for you to just read you are way more likely to stick with that for the next 5, 10, 20 years.
Sometimes we are told to lose weight, go to the gym, eat less and move more. These are unspecific comments that don't give people encouragement or guidance. By adding in more of what you LIKE doing into programs that increases accountability and you may be more motivated to do said activity plan.
If you need help adding more of what you love into your schedule then book a consultation with me and we can work it out together. Thanks for reading and Stay Strong!
